Bury Christmas lunch report

Judith Daykin, Chair of Bury and West Burton Volunteers, sent us this report on the Christmas lunch:

For another year, Bury celebrated Christmas over the popular festive lunch at the village hall on Friday 15th December.

The team of volunteer cooks, bar staff, table/chair shifters, washer-uppers etc etc, all made this possible and we received lots of compliments and thanks from those who joined us and who said how much they enjoyed the day.

This year our Christmas raffle was run by ‘Friends of Bury School’ and the proceeds were in aid of Bury primary school. Friends of Bury School presented a stunning array of prizes and as a result raised approximately £300 in funding for the school.

Of course, it would not be the same if the Bury school children were not there to sing carols for us and with us. This always ends the day on a high and we thank them all for their lovely performance.

The final bonus – although the lunch is not specifically a fundraising event – was that the team made £330 profit from the sale of tickets, food and wine. This amount has been donated to Dementia Support in Tangmere.

A great big thank you goes to those who helped make the day a success and of course to all those who came along and joined us.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and happy and healthy 2024.
