Work to restore Pill Pond to a natural stream commences

‘Following planning permission approval, work has now commenced at Pill Pond to remove the weirs impounding Pill Pond and allow the pond area to revert to a natural stream environment.  The plans were suggested by the Wild Trout Trust and SDNPA which will enhance the pond’s biodiversity and ecological connectivity, as well as remove the need for periodic desilting of the pond and repairs to the weirs.  To carry out the works, footpath 767 will be closed until the end of August- you can find out more about it here.
