As previously reported, pilot events involving certain sports are being held to establish whether spectators can be admitted to sports venues from 1st October. This week saw 1,000 people attending a friendly cricket match at The Oval and 300 spectators will be allowed in to each session of the World Snooker Championships in Sheffeld commencing later this week. Saturday 1st August is the final day of the Glorious Goodwood horseracing festival when 4.000 annual members and guests will be on site, albeit split into 8 new enclosures holding 500 people. A somewhat surreal experience compared to normal conditions at all these events but sports fans will be pleased to know that gradual progress is being made.
