From Monday 4th April, Royal Mail increased the cost of a first class stamp to 95p and second class to 68p.
Barcodes are being added to all ‘everyday’ stamps. These are the stamps “that will enable exciting new services by connecting physical stamps to the digital world through the Royal Mail app”. However, Royal Mail state that you can carry on using any non-barcoded stamps you may still have until 31st January 2023.
If you have too many stamps to use them up before this date you can exchange them for new barcoded ones through Royal Mail’s ‘Swap Out’ scheme. Special Stamps with pictures on and Christmas Stamps without a barcode will continue to be valid and don’t need to be swapped out. For further information please see here.
