Bury Christmas Lunch

For the first time since December 2019, the Bury Christmas Lunch returned to the village hall on Thursday 15th December and proved a great success with more than sixty residents enjoying a traditional turkey lunch with all the trimmings. Once again, the children from Bury School provided the post-lunch entertainment with their seasonal songs and carols to round off a very special occasion in Bury’s social calendar.

Total net proceeds – including the raffle – amounted to £600 which will be shared equally between the village hall and the chosen charity for the event, The Sussex Snowdrop Trust. The Trust provides nursing care at home for local children with life-threatening or terminal illness, as well as emotional and financial support for families coping with the day-to-day problems of caring for a very sick child.

A huge vote of thanks is due to the organisers, Janet Mattey and Judith Daykin – along with their team of volunteers – for their efforts in making the Bury Christmas Lunch such a memorable occasion.
