Last Saturday, Bury resident Sue Bird and her son Steve took part in the Mighty Hike – a walk of 26.2 miles from Brighton Racecourse to Eastbourne – in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and we are delighted to include this report from them: –
“Thank you for all of your support and good wishes, Sue and Steve successfully completed the Macmillan Mighty Hike last Saturday in 7 hours 46 minutes. Considering the weather was much warmer than 3 years ago, taking two minutes longer to complete the 26.6 mile course was still a great achievement. More importantly, as before, they came 30th and 31st out of 1352 finishers, with 1500 starters, wow we were very proud. Donations are still coming in but their final figure raised is going to be over £1600.”
