The further lockdown easement measures due to have operated from 1st August – but deferred at the last minute for at least two weeks – were implemented with effect from last Saturday 15th Aug and as a consequence: –

  • Indoor theatre, music and performance venues can re-open with socially distanced audiences under updated arts guidance published by the Government
  • Wedding receptions in the form of a sit-down meal for up to 30 guests are permitted
  • Casinos, bowling alleys, skating rinks and indoor play and soft play areas can re-open
  • Beauty salons, tattoo studios, spas and barbers will be able to offer all close contact services including front of the face treatments
  • The piloting of a small number of sporting events to test the safe return of spectators resumed from 15th August with a view to re-opening competition venues for sports fans from 1st October with social distancing measures in place. This commenced with spectators being admitted to the final two days of the World Snooker Championships in Sheffield last weekend
  • The piloting of events will also take place to help plan for the re-starting of business events and conferences from 1st October.
