Coronavirus update

Vaccine for COVID-19
Following news on Monday of the progress made towards developing a vaccine, the Prime Minister gave his assessment in a press conference and outlined the Government’s thinking as to how events might then evolve assuming the vaccine is approved. If you missed the press conference you can view it here.

COVID-19 test roll-out
It was also announced on Monday that 600,000 rapid turnaround flow test kits will be issued to over 50 directors of public health across England this week to enable local teams to direct and deliver community testing based on their local knowledge. Each will receive a batch of 10,000 antigen lateral flow devices as part of a new pilot to enable them to start testing priority groups. For further details please see here.

Businesses and venues during lockdown
In last week’s Newsletter we provided a copy of the Government’s communication “New National Restrictions from 5 November” in which some detail was given on which businesses would need to close during the current lockdown along with those permitted to remain open. Further guidance has now been issued which contains far more comprehensive details across a wide range of settings and this can be found here.
