Unfortunately, there seems to be no limit to the extent scammers will go to in an effort to steal money from us with their methods becoming even more elaborate and convincing. In addition to those purporting to be from the NHS, BT, Open Reach and so on, the recent passing of the 31st January deadline for the filing of tax returns seems to have presented them with the opportunity of informing would-be victims of their entitlement to a tax rebate and asking for bank account and/or credit card details to enable the rebate to be paid. Do please be extra careful and never reveal personal details, however plausible the request for such information may seem.
