Better Broadband for Bury Parish – Update

The following is a message from Richard Champness, Chair of Bury Parish Council: –

As announced at last week’s Annual Parish Meeting, I can confirm that the community have been successful in gaining sufficient funding through the Government voucher scheme, which includes top up funding from West Sussex County Council.

This is a fantastic achievement and I want to thank all of those who came together and supported this important project by pledging and validating your vouchers, which will future proof 335 addresses across our community with Full Fibre Ultrafast Broadband (FTTP).

The additional crucial support came in a variety of ways and included Nick and his team at The Squire and Horse by hosting a public meeting, my colleagues at Bury Parish Council, our MP Andrew Griffith and his team, Tim Clarkson at Openreach, lots of support from local businesses e.g. by displaying posters, residents plus Bury and West Burton Volunteers spreading the news, some helping neighbours with the sign up process and a few of you who came out and knocked on a lot of doors to promote the project.

Although we do not yet have a delivery date for completion of the upgrade, a reasonable estimate would be by April 2023. I will pass on any news as I receive it, although I anticipate this will not be for several months. In the meantime, Openreach will be planning the build programme and will also be in touch with those of you who validated your vouchers.

Many thanks
Richard Champness
