Saturday 5th October 11am to 4pm – Bury Green
No entry fee, but donations appreciated towards costs.
We’ll be following the October monthly coffee morning and plant sale in the Village Hall with our annual Apple Day event. We want to make good use of the wonderful apples from around the parish, which are many, often not needed and risk being wasted.
- Apple Pressing starts at 11am
- You can bring your apples any time before this to allow us to make an early start.
- If you need some help to pick your apples, please let us know at bwbvolunteers21@gmail.com …. and we’ll try to help.
- If you need a coffee/cake or plants, while your apples are being pressed, the monthly coffee morning will be taking place inside the hall from 10.30 till 12.00.
- From 12 midday, there’ll be a Bar, BBQ, apple pies, live music with Duncan Mackenzie, and it’s a great opportunity to get together!
Tips to keep your apples fresh:
They are probably already dropping, but you can store any fruit that is not too badly bruised and is without visible bugs, in shallow wooden or cardboard boxes, under cover. Simply turn them every few days, discarding any rotten ones.
Take your apple juice home:
The juice will freeze really well in plastic bottles, so do bring some bottles if you can. We will have a limited number bottles available as well.
If you have apples but don’t want all the juice, you can donate it to the community cider-making project – the result will be available (in exchange for a donation to cover bottling costs) at next year’s Apple Day.
Come and join us for a fun day celebrating harvest season!
